CBSE Board Exams 2027: Class 10 and Class 12 Exams From February 16; Provisional Timetable Released

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the provisional date sheet for the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. According to the published exam schedule, the board exams for both classes will commence on February 16, 2027. The Class 10 exams will conclude on March 9, while the Class 12 exams will continue until April 9. All exams are scheduled to start at 10.30 AM Indian Standard Time.

The examination calendar has been prepared to help students plan their preparation more effectively and allocate sufficient study time for each subject. Publishing the date sheet 101 days in advance will benefit students, teachers, and parents alike. According to the provisional schedule issued by CBSE, board exams are arranged for a total of 83 subjects in Class 10 and 121 subjects in Class 12. Each student's exam dates are determined based on the subjects they have selected.

During the preparation of the timetable, the board reviewed over 40,000 subject combinations. This extensive verification was conducted to ensure that no two exams for subjects chosen by the same student occur on the same day. The objective is to minimize clashes between exam dates and to provide students with adequate preparation time between exams.

However, since this is a provisional date sheet, there is a possibility of changes in the final exam schedule. Therefore, students and school authorities are advised to regularly check official board notifications.

As part of the 2027 board exams, practical exams, project evaluations, and internal assessments for Class 10 and Class 12 students will begin from January 1, 2027. Schools that operate on a winter schedule have been given a special timetable. Practical exams and internal assessments in such schools should be completed between November 9 and December 19, 2026.

Schools must strictly follow the board’s guidelines regarding the conduct of practical exams, mark recording, and project submissions. It is advisable for students to obtain precise dates and other necessary information about practical exams from their schools well in advance.

Students of Class 10 and Class 12 can visit CBSE’s official website, https://www.cbse.gov.in, to check the subject-wise exam timetable. By accessing the 'Latest Notifications' or the exam-related section, they can find and download the PDF of the 2027 exam date sheet. Students should verify the subject names along with their codes, as different subjects within the same category or language subjects may have different exam dates. Careful checking of the timetable applicable to their selected subjects is essential.

CBSE has also announced the release of sample question papers for the 2027 board exams for both classes. These can be viewed and downloaded from the board’s academic website at https://cbseacademic.nic.in. Sample question papers are useful for understanding the structure of questions, the distribution of marks, the nature of questions, and the time allotted for the exam. Practicing these along with past year question papers will help students approach the exam with greater confidence.

The sample papers help especially with time management, review of key concepts, and identifying important topics requiring more attention. With the exam dates announced well in advance, students can prepare a study plan that considers the importance of subjects and the gaps between exams. Along with regular revision, they should allocate time for mock tests and practicing past papers.

Since the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams are significant milestones in students' academic journeys, attention to exam dates, admit card distribution, practical exam instructions, and assessment-related notifications is critical. Students, parents, and school officials are urged to stay updated by regularly visiting CBSE’s official websites.

In case of any changes to the provisional timetable, official subsequent notifications by the board should be prioritized.
